SCITUATE, R.I. - State police said two mothers who were killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 295 in Johnston earlier this month were rushing to a doctor’s appointment for one of their children.

Lt. Joseph DelPrete told The Providence Journal that a three-week investigation has yielded no evidence that either drugs or alcohol were involved in the Sept. 1 crash that killed-year-old Sheila Armstrong and 21-year-old Kayla Pine, both of West Warwick. A third woman was seriously injured.

Armstrong’s two children and a third child were unhurt.

DelPrete said Thursday the women had been visiting a friend in Woonsocket and were running late for a scheduled 3:15 p.m. pediatric appointment in Warwick. The crash happened at about 3 p.m.

Amen Lawn.  A late doctor is nothing new, and certainly not a tragedy.

The sad and tragic thing about this accident is that they could have been an hour late and the doctor probably still wouldn’t have been on time.
