PROVIDENCE—A boyfriend faces manslaughter charges in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Providence police said Friday.

Victor Arciliares, 20, was brought to Providence District Court to be charged with manslaughter but was ordered held for two weeks for a psychological evaluation.

On Thursday, officers found 18-year-old Dayvelliz Cotto in the back yard of a house on Montgomery Avenue bleeding from a single gunshot wound. She was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police said Cotto’s 4-month-old girl was in the home at the time of the shooting. The baby is now with Cotto’s mother.

Police said Arciliares is the father of the baby.

This is definitely a domestic violence case.  Im so afraid this will happen to one of my family members some day…and there is nothing I can do to stop it.  Girls now a days have no self esteem and stay with these animals until it is too late….like this one.  Or like the other one this week who finally killed baby daddy cause she couldn’t take it anymore.  Someone always ends up dead and the other in jail.

I find it very hard to believe that this was an accident.  hmmmm she was shot inside and they find the body outside…..sounds to me like she was trying to get away…...but this is just my opinion..im sure the facts will all come out

18 is the age of majority. You can buy anything but booze….. Almost true, you must be 21 years of age to purchase a hand gun or hand gun ammunition.
