Woman says greyhound killed her puppy

BARRINGTON, R.I. – An Attleboro woman says a greyhound attacked and killed her six-month-old Pomeranian mix.

The attack happened at the Barrington Dog Park late Thursday afternoon.

Kristyn Sousa told The Providence Journal that she and her boyfriend were at the park for 10 minutes when her dog was attacked by a greyhound.

Sousa said she and her boyfriend were surrounded by at least 10 other dogs during the attack. It took several minutes before other dog owners were able to restrain their animals, the newspaper reported.

Sousa said several more minutes went by before the greyhound finally released her dog.

Sousa said she and another woman raced from the dark park to Riverside Animal Hospital, where the dog was pronounced dead, according to the newspaper.

Police have interviewed both dog owners and witnesses.

K10… The 1st 6 months of a dogs life is important to interact with other dogs for their social behavior… so that dog was not too young! 2nd… the Greyhound owner is reponsible for its dogs behavior and what it did! that person did not know hoe “Socialble” it was when it was young… so I would never bring a dog like that to a Dog Park. The greyhound owner was DUMB to bring that dog to the park and should be 100% responsible for the greyhounds actions… and that dog should be put to sleep!  sorry… but thats how it should be. It KILLED another dog… not injure or hurt it!!!!

First of all and most importantly, the greyhound should NOT be put down. That 6 month old puppy should not be at a dog park, she’s far too young. It is the owners responsibility for their dog’s actions, END OF STORY. I have brought my greyhound to the dog park and I stay with him, alot of owners just walk around, talk on their phones, etc. I watch him like a hawk, along with the other dogs. Greyhounds will run after little dogs, so will all the others, as I have seen. And I feel very sorry for the woman who lost her dog, but also there are parks that have 2 SEPERATE parks, one for small dogs, and another for large dogs. Unfortunetly, that wasnt looked into. Also, the small dogs do go after the big dogs, big egos to make up for their little bodies! I’m not blaming any one, but the little pup was probably doing that, and the greyhound was just playing with it. No dog should be put down for something that they didn’t do purposely, since they were of appropriate age (which is very young because alot of greyhounds get retired at 2-3yrs old) they only know racing, and going after little fluffy things. How can you blame him?
Ok, I just needed to put my voice out there.
The greyhound should not get put down. I will go hunt him down and take him home with so he won’t!

And people, even though Pitbulls dont have a good reputation, it is the OWNERS that make them that way. You can mold a dog into whatever you want, you are their alpha. Don’t blame a poor dog, blame the owner.

I feel an animal is an animal.  Whether domesticated or not.  They all have their Animal instincts.  I LOVE dogs. All dogs.  Am i leery of then at times .. you bet.  My newphews have 3 pits.  They are the Best.. docile dogs ever.  But again… an animal is an animal.  grin

I guess just the owners of pit bulls snap! Wow!

But I do understand I guess. Most people don’t. You raise a beautiful dog
into a loving pet and because the breed is known for fighting everyone thinks there dangerous. That combined with all the idiots that own pitbulls that use them as a status symbol.

I know a pitbull I’d trust with a baby.

I would like to know the specifics of this killing. If in fact it was a mistaken identity for a rabbit.  I guess it makes sense.

I know if I owned a little dog especially a male I would be very careful with other male dogs.

Dogs can be messed up just like human beings. Dogs don’t kill other dogs thats not what domesticated dogs do. It can happen with male on male fights however. If a male dog kills a female or another male that is being submissive then there is something wrong and the dog should be put down.
