Wind farm plan in Charlestown abandoned

CHARLESTOWN, R.I.—Plans to build a small wind farm on private property in Charlestown have been abandoned due to the unexpected death of one of the developers.

William Green of Westerly and Jack Johannemann had received permission from the Zoning Board of Review to erect a test tower on Ross Hill Road next to the Shelter Harbor Golf Club on property owned by John Rosa IV.

Their company was called Green Machine Bio LLC.

The goal was to eventually construct up to four energy-producing wind turbines on the site.

Assistant town lawyer Robert Craven told The Westerly Sun that Green passed away a few months ago and his family has indicated that no one will continue with the wind energy proposal.

Im very familiar with the Block island wind project as well.  Which again, is supported by a republican governer. so i still don’t see your left wing comments as making any sense.

The guy Here was trying to do something good, maybe make a little money in the process, and sadly he died, and you bring ridiculous political views into an issue that is not political at all, without any real thought on the matter, just very unnecessary.

John,

Supporting windfarms has nothing to do with “left wing” Im am a true republican, and i support them fully.  They are not the end all and be all of power generation in the world, but there is no reason not to do them where they are applicaable.

In fact Some of the biggest supporters of wind projects are right wing conservative republicans such as T boone pickens for example. your so called “left sided hippy’s” such as the kennedy’s are some of the biggest opposers of the cape wind project, so im not sure where you get your facts.

My condolences to the Green family.

ON THE SUBJECT OF WIND FARMS: After viewing clips in the media showing some of these Town Hall meetings on the healthcare debate, I believe it would be quite helpful to hold them on the wind farms that are already built.

Thank God,
I have been in the industry of building power plants both (nuclear, conventional) for the last 35 years and if any of the wide eyed, green left sided hippies think that a wind power turbine is going to be the “save all” to your electric bill…. well i have some ocean frount land in New Mexico, get real my friends,it will only help the guy building it, not the hippy mined “Whole Earth Catalog” liberils
