Voters on and around Cape Cod are supporting wind power, even if some lawmakers are not.
87 percent of voters in 11 Massachusetts towns voted “Yes” on a non-binding ballot question supporting the Cape Wind project. That project would put 130 windmills in Nantucket Sound, to provide most of the regions electricity.
Sen.Edward Kennedy and former Gov. Mitt Romney oppose the project, while Gov.Deval Patrick and Sen. John Kerry support it, pending passage of an environmental review.
