MIDDLETOWN, R.I.—The Middletown Police Department said about 20 school buses used by the School Department to transport students didn’t go anywhere Monday morning.
The air was let out of the front tires of every bus in the bus lot some time after 3 p.m. Sunday. The buses could not be used to transport students on Monday morning, but they were back in service for the afternoon.
There is no surveillance at the bus yard, which is located at the high school.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call the Middletown Police Department Detective Division at 401-846-0029 or the anonymous tip line at 401-842-6516.

I believe the families of the kids who did this should be responsible for the cleanup. Maybe then they’ll take responsibility for the behavior of their children and start parenting!
This kid is another example of what is wrong with parenting these days. It is all about him…nothing else counts. But, you figure it is just a kid who doesn’t know any better, who has no real knowledge of how to be self sufficient or how to survive in the real world because Mommy and Daddy are still providing for him. So it is appropriate to excuse and disregard his ignorance.
He/she is being realistic, Rachelstar. It is unrealistic that a student ever be inconvenienced. Like you and I aren’t inconvenienced on a daily basis.
Do realize how ridiculous you sound? So you had to find a way to school for one day. BOO HOO!!! Could the bus company have prevented what happened? You should be upset with the kids that did the vandalism and caused you to look for a different way to school today. When you get to work at 5 AM and the buses have to leave the yard at 5:45-6 AM that hardly leaves anytime at all to make any repairs. Each tire needs to be removed and inspected for further damage and repaired. These buses have to meet a certain check list before they leave the bus yard each and every day. They carry hundreds of children to school and are responsible to get them there safely. Find who caused all this damage and that’s who you need to direct your anger over. Be glad you found out as soon as you did.
Having a back-up plan for something like this seems like a waste of time by the school, seeing as something like this happens ONCE in a while.
Be realistic.
Also just a note to smitty, there are no students that are forced to walk miles each day to get to school unless they are forbidden to ride the bus. Maybe it was like that back when you were in school, but not today. haha. :D
True, there are kids that walk to school each day, but for the students that are told at the last minute that there will be no buses to get to school on, it is quite inconvenient to the majority of the students.
The school says the damage was found early this morning around 5:40ish. One correction that should be noted, it was the pins inside the valve steams that were removed, not the valve steams them selfs. The school should have some type of plan setup for when things like this happen, so that students like myself aren’t forced to rush around at 6:30 in the morning trying to find a alternative way to get to school.
That kind of depends on when the damage was discovered now, doesn’t it? If the first driver at the yard this morning found the damage, it was kind of late to get every bus repaired.
So you kids had to walk. Stop complaining about it. Some kids have to walk miles EVERY DAY.
We just went outside during last period class and looked at the buses. They told us the buses were alot worse then they claim they were. Students said they were spraypainted, sillystringed and etc. All the front tires on the busses are flat and thats all that was done. It could of been fixed to bring us to school this morning.
