URI ship leaves on research trip

The URI research ship Endeavor set sail Monday, from Narragansett, for a 18-week research trip.
The Endeavor and its crew will travel to Brazil, Namibia, and Cape Verde to study the ocean’s circulation patterns, and map the sea floor.

The first destination is the Florida panhandle, where the instruments, communications systems and underwater vehicles will all be checked before heading for Brazil. There are four scientific labs on board the Endeavor.
The ship is scheduled to return to Narragansett at the end of July.
