PROVIDENCE – Did you know some termites like creamy drinks?
Nibbles Woodaway, aka The Big Blue Bug, is getting a nice refreshing drink for the summertime.
New England Pest Control and Newport Creamery have teamed up to have a giant Awful Awful cup placed in front of Nibbles for four weeks, beginning Monday.
Newport Creamery will also be offering a Big Blue Bug Awful Awful in its restaurants.
There is no word as to whether Nibbles prefers coffee, vanilla or strawberry.

I wish it would nibble the General Assembly away.
The bug is supposed to be a representation of a termite, hence the name ‘Nibbles Wood-away’.
what kind of bug is it a fly? and its most definitly a landmark not an eyesore, an eyesore is olneyville they should bulldoze that neighborhood…lol
some legislatures need to be eaten by the big blue bug (LOL)
The bug has been on the roof of that building for over thirty years. Now there are psople who think it’s not right that a big blue bug is what the state is known by?
You know what—that is as crazy as the name change that is being pushed through the legislature right now.
i love the big blue bug! i moved out of RI 3 years ago and its still nice to hear about stuff from home.
I had friends from NJ (who saw nibbles in dumb and dumber and on family guy)come up just to see him for themselfs. They got all sorts of excited when we drove by it was amusing to see them get excited when they saw him. ![]()
George Bush never would have let them put trash on the roofs of buildings.
I’m in between on this. This state already has a bad rep add to it being know as the home of the big blue bug. Nibbles has appeared on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” and in the movie Dumb & Dumber, and he proudly represents his home state at the new Denver International Airport, where he appears in one of two large murals by Gary Sweeney called America, Why I Love Her that feature odd attractions from each of the fifty states.
Personally I think the Big Blue Bug is a blight on the skyline of Providence. It’s a hideous looking piece of junk and should have been removed when the highway was moved. Great and now we’re putting more trash on top of the building.
