WARWICK, R.I.—A Warwick ice rink damaged by fire reopened on Thursday.

The Thayer Arena had been closed since Oct. 12 after a fire started in an ice surfacing machine. The blaze melted some of the ice and caused other damage to the building. No one was injured in the fire.

City officials said cleaning, repainting, and air-quality testing was finished sooner than expected.

“This rink, I don’t think in my 19 seasons has looked as good as it does right now,“ said rink manager Jim Dorney.

The rink will be open for the city’s Halloween Family Fun Night on Oct. 31.
