EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Police in two states spent Monday morning searching a marsh for a person they said was with three young people in a stolen minivan.

Police said an officer tried to stop the minivan as it was speeding on the Wampanoag Trail in Barrington.  The driver crossed into East Providence, where the minivan crashed into a tree.

Police arrested a 16-year-old female passenger. Three others in the minivan fled to a marshy area of the Runnins River, which separates East Providence from Seekonk.

Two of them, a 17-year-old boy and 19-year-old Ryan Martin, both of Providence, eventually came out of the marsh and were arrested.

Believing the fourth person had jumped into the water to escape, police continued searching the area until mid-morning.

The suspects in custody are facing a number of different charges that include receiving stolen goods, high-speed pursuit and resisting arrest.

Police said the minivan was stolen from a home in East Providence.

It’s so cool to steal a minivan and run from the police. These kids are definately on the right path to a great future. I hope the parents are proud. The beauty of the internet is you can look up the parents and check out their records too. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree that’s for sure.
