Teenager ordered held in son’s killing

WORCESTER, Mass.—A Worcester teenager accused of suffocating her 1-year-old son with a teddy bear was ordered held without bail at her Superior Court arraignment.
Nga Truong, 17, pleaded not guilty to a murder charge Tuesday in Worcester Superior Court.
The Telegram & Gazette of Worcester reported that the bail decision was made without prejudice, meaning the girl’s lawyer could request a bail hearing later. She has been held since her district court arraignment in December.
Authorities allege Truong suffocated her son, Khyle, in November in her family’s home. Police said Truong initially told them she found her son unconscious in his crib, but later admitted suffocating the baby.
Her lawyer and family said the confession was coerced.
