CUMBERLAND, R.I.—A teenager is facing drunken driving charges, after allegedly hitting a police cruiser in Cumberland at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Not really sorry. Laws need to be tougher so it doesn’t happen the 1st time. I still say you were very lucky you did not kill someone. You should have know better at your age. It was a poor choice not a mistake. Wildove no one including you are perfect. We just make better choices at times. Drinking & Driving can kill. This is a well known fact. So why do people young & old have to keep testing the facts. If you choose to drink and drive then you need to pay for your choice. I hope they come out with stiffer laws soon.
And lorib, I think you’re absolutly right. You’ll never see my name in the paper again
It’s just funny how people can’t admit they have done wrong in their life before. It really urks me.
Mistake IS a wrong decision, and I did own up to it. I admitted I was wrong in doing what I did. Read please.
TiredofRI, I agree with you, but I did know there were consequences after drinking and driving, obviously I just wasn’t in my right state of mind. And I’m not just getting a slap on the wrist. I’ve talked to cops, and they said I may have to do 2 weeks in a Drinking Recovery Program thing, lose my liscence for a year, probation, and weekly alcohol abuse classes. Do you think that is fair enough? I know you think mandatory jail is fair enough, but it’s not enforced that way.
Jessica if i were you i would even bother reading anymore of these comments. You have quite a long road ahead of you i’m sure. Live and Learn ![]()
wildove5—Nobody is ‘berating’ anybody. Se my last post. The sooner these kids stop trying to hide behind making a mistake and admit they purposely made the wrong choice the better off they’ll be. Or are you trying to say they thought the drinks were just coca-cola or orange juice? THAT would be called a mistake.
Jay—you have no room to talk—YOU hit the cruiser, didn’t you? Drinking alcohol is NOT a mistake, it is a choice—and you made the wrong choice. The sooner you live up to it and stop saying you made a ‘mistake’, the better off you will be.
hopefully this will be the last comment i have on this subject. SMITTY, call your local PD and gets your facts straight! You can be arrested for public drinking, you can be arrested for disorderly conduct, ( due to drinking), you can be arrested for serving a minor, while underage drinking is not legal, just like underage smoking, cops don’t arrest them! once again while several officers were at the scene, NO ONE BUT the driver was arrested so please focus your energy on changing the laws not berating victoria. thanks, by the way how close was I? Police scanner? Single? over weight? middle age? I had to have gotten at least two or three right! Just curious. But then again your perfect!
Not fighting stating facts. Have many hobbies. I do not think all 18 yr old kids are immature. What I feel is you knew what you were doing was wrong. Now you are trying to write it off by saying you have learned. I still believe you should get more than a slap on the wrist. Maybe then you will really learn. Maybe if other young kids, grown ups, government officials & so on knew there would be consequences for driving drunk they would think twice. I hope your realize everyday how lucky you were that you did not kill or cripple someone.
Why are you guys fighting over this? There is enough fighting in the world, and there is going to be alot of it in court soon. We should all end it at: Jessica Thibault messed up BIG TIME. And beleive it or not, this 18yr old has learned, and will learn more from this stupid mistake. Done. Easy as that.
I know most of you think that all young adults are all stupid, immature and helpless, but I speak for myself, yet again in saying that I am not. I hate reading these comments posted (except for the ones that remember being young and intoxicated when they were younger) because they are showing that most people don’t give second chances. MISTAKES HAPPEN! Go read about the war and commment on that. Or like one commenter said, “get a hobby” or a better one anyways. Thank you.
wildove5, I KNOW she wasn’t driving—it says so plainly in the story. FYI, drunkenness in public is a crime and so is underage drinking—and that is what I was referring to.
Kindly keep your suppositions and your inaccuracies to yourself.
