Teen acquitted in fatal shooting

TAUNTON, Mass. - A New Bedford teenager has been acquitted of charges that he killed another man on a city street.

A Taunton Superior Court jury deliberated for nine hours Tuesday following a nearly two-week trial before finding 19-year-old Michael Feliciano not guilty of fatally shooting 24-year-old Albon Wilson in September 2007.

The Standard-Times of New Bedford reported that the prosecution’s case centered on the testimony of three women.

But the defense said one woman’s statements were coerced by police, while two others implicated Feliciano to deflect attention from themselves.

A spokesman for the Bristol District Attorney says the office is disappointed but respects the jury’s decision.
