PROVIDENCE—Rhode Island health officials say four beaches in the state can reopen for swimming after tests showed acceptable bacteria counts, but six others remain closed.

Authorities have recommended the reopening of Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick, Peabodys Beach in Middletown, Third Beach in Middletown and Warren Town Beach in Warren.

Beaches that remain closed because of high bacteria include Camp Grosvenor in North Kingstown, City Park Beach in Warwick, Conimicut Point Beach in Warwick, Gorton Pond Beach in Warwick, Governor Notte Park Beach in North Providence and Oakland Beach in Warwick.

State health officials say they will continue to monitor beach water quality throughout the summer.
