The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training is warning people on unemployment and temporarily disability for bogus text messages claiming the department has cancelled their benefit payment cards.
Laura Hart, of the Department of Labor and Training, said the department received several complaints about the messages on Thursday.
She said the messages are not coming from DLT. Hart said the department does not communicate with its customers through text messages.

why would anyone give out any peronal info to a text message or over the phone . i just got a text message just the other day from the DLT . my answer was DELETE
Something along these lines is also being sent to people asking them to re-active a debit card that they may have with their bank. NEVER give out your personal information, account numbers etc, unless you know who you are giving this information to. Scam artisits will try anything.
So the questions must be asked.
How did who ever is sending the messages come by these folks contact info in order to send the text messages? And how did they find out that these folks are on unemployment?
