CRANSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island troops stationed overseas will again be receiving Christmas gifts this holiday season.

Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts on Tuesday will launch Operation Holiday Cheer, a program that sends care packages to National Guard troops serving outside the country.

Roberts and Robert Bray, the commanding general of the Rhode Island National Guard, are asking the public for contributions.

They’ll be joined by community and corporate sponsors for the launch announcement Tuesday at the National Guard Command Readiness
Center in Cranston.

The program is in its seventh year.
