Registry opens second branch on Mass Pike

NATICK, Mass.—The Registry of Motor Vehicles is opening its second branch office along the Massachusetts Turnpike.
An express office offering just license and registration services opened at the Natick service plaza on Monday, a week after a full-service branch opened on the highway in Charlton.
The new branch offices, both on the eastbound side of the turnpike, are part of the registry’s plan to save $1.7 million by closing nearly a dozen offices in privately owned buildings that are expensive to lease, and opening new branches in underutilized state-owned buildings.
Two other registry branches will open in publicly owned facilities before October.
Registry officials are encouraging Massachusetts residents to do as much business with the agency as possible online.
