Police: Woman leaves child alone at casino hotel

MASHANTUCKET, Conn.—Connecticut state police said they arrested a Massachusetts woman on allegations she left her 9-year-old daughter alone in a hotel room while she went to a gambling area of Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Joanne Salvatore of Quincy was charged with leaving a child unsupervised in a public place of accommodation and released on a $250 bond. She’s due in New London Superior Court on June 8.
Troopers said the girl called 911 Monday to report that she was alone in a room at the Great Cedar Hotel at Foxwoods. Authorities said casino security workers paged Salvatore, who was arrested when she returned to the room from the casino floor.
The child was unharmed. Authorities notified the Department of Children and Families.

There is no cure for stupid! Do you recall the case of the English Child left alone with her baby brother in a hotel in Portugal.She was 3! Kidnapped before the parents returned from dinner. They are both doctors, but STUPID! The poor little girl has never been found. They should have been arrested also. I hope DCYF gets involved in this case.
los you are so right. My son and I were at Foxwoods Christmas day. I can’t tell you how many children were there with their parents. Christmas children belong home not in a casino. I don’t think they should be in a casino at any time, this is adult time away from kids. People without children do not want to hear children crying. PS my son is 27

this is rediculous, i’ve gone to foxwoods and mohegan sun .I cant tell you how many time i have been there with my wife at midnight or later during a night out (WITHOUT OUR KIDS), and there are people i mean not 2 or 3 but more than that walking around with babies, children younger than 8 yrs old in strollers , are you frigin serious ? do you have that much of a problem gambling that you would subject your child to that ? .This is more common than people realize . poor things scrouched over in there strollers tired as heck. so sad. those kids belong at home in there warm beds or cribs, not at the casino at midnight while the parents are gambling there lives away . what a shame i feel so bad for the kids when i see that , its terrible and sad really.and why would you bring a child to an environment like that ? i just dont get it.
