EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Rhode Island State Police crews on Tuesday resumed their search for the body of a man believed killed in a 1970s Mob hit.

The police began digging through an East Providence lot Monday, the same day they announced the arrests of 18 people allegedly connected to mafia crime rings.

Police arrested three additional men—one of them in Florida—later Monday. Those arrested face charges, including drug, weapon and gambling offenses.

State police have said they’re looking for someone killed by the mob about 30 years ago, but they won’t say who.

One of those arrested Monday was Nicholas Pari, who was convicted of killing Joseph “Joe Onions” Scanlon in 1978.

Scanlon’s body was never found, but police would not confirm they are looking for Scanlon.
