WORCESTER, Mass.—Federal and local law enforcement authorities have removed more than 750 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of about $1 million from a Worcester home.

Vice squad Sgt. Carl Supernor said police went to the Alameda Road house at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday with a warrant.

When nobody came to the door, police forced their way in and found a man identified as Tien Nguyen hiding in an upstairs bathroom.

Nguyen, 37, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture and trafficking in marijuana from 100 to 2,000 pounds.

Supernor told the Telegram & Gazette the house had been converted into a highly sophisticated “grow house” with more than 79 individual lighting systems operating on an automatic timing system.

It is good to see most people have common sense…now to get some of that in the legislature.  If it was legalized, there wouldn’t be so many grow houses.  Let people grow it on their own if they want it.  Let them pay a tax if they want to buy it. There will be trade offs, but one will be reduced organized crime and increased government revenue.  Let the police focus on violent crime and immigration!

And if it was legal it would be worth about a hundred bucks….legalize it and tax it like cigarettes and alcohol, it might even free up law enforcement to pursue some real crimes

Just returned from Vancouver where the use of marijuana is so widespread that the police do not arrest anyone for possession…they simply confiscate the marijuana.  Sounds logical to me.

Sorry people I should read more closely..opps. This was not in Rhode Island so never mind about people loosing a day of work a week, but I still think keeping marijuana users in jail is a waste of money for all states and still think it would be a great way to help money issues everywhere..

Now if it were just legal, I will admit this was a large amount. So now they put him in jail take up room and cost the state more money. Gov. is ready to take a day of work away from people in the state ( I know people are always haten on state workers but it’s still not right) So if we are worried about the money problems in Rhode Island lets tax marijuana like they do to everything else just about! So people don’t have to loose 4 days of work every month. Whats wrong with this picture America! I know it would work!
