NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - New Bedford police are looking for a suspect believed to be responsible for a string of soda bottle explosions in the city.
There have been no reported injuries or property damage.
Police tell The Standard Times of New Bedford the devices made of aluminum foil and chemicals stuffed inside 2-liter plastic bottles have been placed in front of convenience stores and restaurants late at night.
The most recent incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, when one device detonated and another was found inside a nearby trash can. A third was found behind a library.
A man believed to be the suspect was seen running from the area.
Five devices were found last weekend, one of which malfunctioned.

thank you wdmso. i agree
well, let’s see….someone INTENTIONALLY put together chemicals that would “pop”, placed them in strategic places outside a business, and then ran away. I’d say that qualifies as drama.
AS your story stated they are aluminum foil and chemicals stuffed inside 2-liter plastic bottles. Theses are not bombs and they do not detonate. the foil and chemicals mix causing the bottle to fill
with Co2 then the bottle pops. a loud pop!! but thats it! no fire no shrapnel A
M80 is more dangerous So stop the drama and do some truthful reporting
