Police ID man found dead in burning truck

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I.—Police have identified a man found dead inside a burning pickup truck at a North Kingstown park-and-ride lot.

The man was identified as 37-year-old Terence Ashworth.

The pickup truck was in flames when firefighters arrived around 6 a.m. Wednesday. Police Chief Edward Charboneau told The Providence Journal that Ashworth burned to death in the fire even though passers-by tried to save him.

Ashworth was a member of the Narragansett School Committee. He leaves behind a wife and two young sons.
