ATTLEBORO, Mass.—A man was arrested and charged with the murder of an Attleboro woman, the Bristol County District Attorney’s office said Monday.

Aaron Carney, 30, of Attleboro, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Providence on a charge of being a fugitive from justice. If Carney waves extradition, he will be transported to Attleboro District Court for arraignment on the murder charge.

Police found the body of 67-year-old Elizabeth Fontaine around noon inside her 39 Emory St. home after receiving a 911 call.

According to the district attorney’s office, Fontaine was apparently the victim of a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
