BRISTOL, R.I.—Bristol police are searching for a man who allegedly posed as a police officer and pulled over a 75-year-old woman.
Authorities said the woman was driving Christmas morning when a sedan with flashing red lights pulled behind her near an intersection. The woman refused a request to get out of her car from a man with a badge pinned to his polo shirt.
The man briefly examined the woman’s driver’s license.
Bristol Police Lt. Steven Contente said investigators have confirmed the man did not work for the town police department. It’s unclear whether the impostor is the same man who posed as a police officer to stop a Roger Williams University student last year.

you are absolutly correct dgold as a parent of a child who has just recieved her permit I have instructed her to never pull over for an unmarked car until she calls 911 and confirms that its a REAL police officer I will not have her taking chances like what just happened to this poor woman.
...this situation could have been a disaster-loss of life included.
What does it take to cease and desist the unmarked police car making routine traffic violation stops endangering people’s lives and forcing the driver to make decisions that could lead to disaster?
Traffic violation stops/pullover should be restricted to marked police vehicles.
