Nhai and San, two physically challenged kittens living in East Providence, are in need of medical attention and a good home.
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Nhai and San are two physically challenged kittens.
Nhai has no bones in her front paws. San can only walk on three of his legs. They are 7-week-old siblings who are in great need of medical care.
“(San’s) back leg is badly deformed and it will be a dragger so it will need to be amputated. Both of the kittens are going to possibly require surgery,“ said Rita Falaguerra, who runs Cat Adoption Team Services in Riverside.
Falaguerra has had the kittens for about a week and a half. She believes their problems stem from the fact the mother was too old to have kittens, and now the owner can’t care for them.
She said they are perfect examples of why people need to spay and neuter their cats.
“As much as I love these kittens, they should never have been born,“ she said. “There is help out there. There are people who can direct you to low cost spay neuter.“
There is a mandatory spay-neuter law for cats in Rhode Island. It’s a law Falaguerra said people need to follow.
“We cannot adopt our way out of this. We can only spay neuter our way out of this. So that’s my plea, for these babies not to have been born. But now that they are, help us help them,“ she said.
Falaguerra said her goal is to get them the medical attention they need and find them a good home, preferably together.

Very well said tiredofRI! Making the decision to have a pet is like making a decision to have a baby! Spaying & neutering is the absolute most important think you should do for the animal as well as the wonderful people out there who are trying to manage the pet overpopulation. I have 3 cats and they’re all rescues and are the best! There’s just no reason imo to ‘buy’ a pet, there are far too many out there in need and they love to give LOVE! I wish I could help but I’m not in the position to but I’m sure this article will bring the right person(s) for these kitties. I’m crossing my fingers for them.
How sad. I wish I could take them, but my German shepherd would not be happy. People need to take responsibility for their animals. Also when adopting please remember as they get older they need more care & medical attention. I know they can be cute & cuddly as babies but they are just like children they require care. Think long and hard before buying a pet. (remember there are many up for adoption who would be great) You are taking on a long term commitment. They need love and attention just like a child. You don’t give you child away if they misbehave you should not do this with an animal either. Work with them & train them. The payback will be great. All they want is love they are so grateful for it and will pay you back tenfold. Sometimes more so then your own kids LOL.
