The new India Point Park pedestrian bridge opened to foot traffic Wednesday.

The bridge connects the Fox Point neighborhood on the city’s East Side with India Point Park on the Providence waterfront, crossing over Interstate 195.

The bridge cost about $9.5
million to build. The state Department of Transportation said that was about $1 million under budget.

The bridge was part of the bigger Iway construction project.
