PROVIDENCE—Fire officials are investigating a firebombing at a two-story house on Union Avenue in Providence.

Officials said someone apparently broke a window at about 11 p.m. on Monday and threw some type of accelerant into a bedroom on the second floor.

There were five people on the second-floor apartment and five people on the first floor when the fire started. One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Investigators said the fire department is treating the fire as arson and said it is likely that the tenants on the second floor were deliberately targeted.
