ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Attleboro Police and MBTA officials are investigating after a woman is killed by a train Saturday afternoon.

The woman was standing on the handicap platform at the South Attleboro MBTA station just after 3:30 PM when she was struck by an Amtrak regional train on its way to New York from Boston, said MBTA Transit Police.

Approximately 200 passengers on the train were moved to a second Amtrak train later in the evening to resume their trip.

The woman was believed to be by herself on the platform at the time of the accident.

MBTA Transit Police and Attleboro Police are among those involved in the investigation.

What’s the word on this story? Has she been identified and was it a suicide? I’ve seen that platform and I don’t understand how anyone could be hit there.
