Newport fire possibly arson, police say

NEWPORT, R.I. - A weekend fire in Newport that destroyed two cars and a motorcycle and damaged a nearby home is being investigated as a possible case of arson.
Authorities said the fire was reported by a passer-by at about 5 a.m.Sunday.
Responding officers ran inside 5 Wellington Ave., where they found a partially blind man in the kitchen, unaware of the fire. After escorting him out, Officers Mary Scott and Eric Barden rescued his wife, then found six other people sleeping throughout the home.
No one was hurt.
Police said they have identified suspects and that they are currently searching for them. No names were immediately released.
