Neighborhood interrupted twice by natural gas leaks

Natural gas leaks have forced the evacuation of a Narragansett neighborhood twice in two weeks.

Parkside Utility, contracted by Verizon, was installing FiOS in the River Front Estates neighborhood when workers struck a gas line.

According to a Verizon representative, Dig Safe was supposed to mark where the gas lines were located, but there were no markings where Parkside Utility dug.

No one was hurt, and things returned to normal fairly quickly in that neighborhood.
