PROVIDENCE—A Pawtucket woman whose baby girl is hospitalized with a fractured skull and facial injuries was released on personal recognizance Thursday.

Stephanie Marques, 21, was arraigned in Providence District Court on charges of child neglect and obstructing a police investigation.  She was ordered to have no contact with the child.  She’s due to return to court in December.

The baby’s father, Michael Patriquin, 23, was charged with first-degree child abuse. He was ordered held on $100,000 bail following his arraignment.

Police were called in when the 18-day-old baby was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital last weekend with two skull fractures. The baby is expected to recover.

The state Department of Children and Youth and Family has taken custody of the couple’s 2-year-old child.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
