Microsoft announces a new version of Internet Explorer.

IE8 has new features meant to speed up web surfing and improve Internet security.
Although there are now literally hundreds of browsers available, Microsoft remains the top choice.
This is Microsoft’s first major browser update since 2006 and just in case you don’t like the new one—there’s even a button to send you back to your original browser!

I’m using it right now—and it is an improvement over IE7.  A little better stability, and if there is a problem there are improved ways of handling it—including automatic reports to Microsoft to see if they have a workaround without IDing the sender.
