Melise’s request to spend holiday at daughter’s homes granted

PROVIDENCE—A judge on Wednesday granted a former city highway superintendent’s request to spend the holiday at his two daughters’ homes.

Edward “Buckles” Melise is accused of selling prescription drugs. He’s currently under home confinement in North Providence.

Melise can only leave the house under certain conditions like work, church or doctor visits.

U.S. Attorney Peter Nerhona objected to the request saying, holiday visits do not fit such requirements.

But Judge Lincoln D. Almond said the visits are similar to attending a religious service.

I’m not standing up for him at all.

I’m just correcting a misconception that you have.

Without all the facts it’s hard to make an intelligent observation.

SnBrdr,

I stand corrected. But does it make you feel better standing up for this scum bag? Is this convicted felon a relative?

Where do you get that he is on parole?

He finished his sentence years ago.

Please get your facts straight before posting.

I thought a parole violation resulted in a taxpayer paid ride back to the ACI. Some one is getting a nice green gift in their Christmas stocking! If you have an uncle Vinnie in RI,everything is for sale.

While he may well be guilty, he has NOT as yet been convicted.

Just to clarify, Judge Lincoln D. Almond and former RI govenor Lincoln Almond are NOT the same person.

It’s not right that Melise gets to spend the holiday with his family. He’s under house arrest which is supposed to be a form of punishment. Most convicted drug dealers spend the holidays in prison and don’t get house arrest so I think the judge has already been lenient enough with this criminal.

How in this world is visiting family similar to a religious service?  This is outright WRONG!!!!!  If this is allowed why can’t every person on home confinement be allowed the same exception.  Lincoln Almond is an idiot.  Thank God is not Gov. anymore.  Otherwise we be further up $hits creek more than we are now!!!
