Mass. track to hold final greyhound races

BOSTON—One of Massachusetts’ two greyhound tracks is preparing to hold its final set of dog races.

The greyhound racing season at Wonderland Greyhound Park ends Friday. The Revere track won’t be allowed to start another season next year because voters approved a measure last year to end all dog racing in the state by January 2010.

Raynham-Taunton Greyhound Park in Raynham, the state’s other dog racing track, will continue to hold live greyhound races until the ban officially takes effect in four months.

Wonderland opened in 1935 on the site of a former amusement park.

State lawmakers have proposed a bill delaying the ban for two years and another bill allowing the two tracks to continue to take wagers on simulcast races.
