BOSTON—Massachusetts is unveiling plans for a new memorial to honor local service members who died in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The interactive, computer-based memorial will include a touch-screen podium kiosk in front of a large flat-screen television. Visitors will be able to search for service members using their names or hometown.

The memorial will be housed for one year in Memorial Hall at the Statehouse. After that it will travel to cities and towns across the state.

Officials said it will be the first memorial in Massachusetts dedicated to the men and women who lost their lives in post-9/11 conflicts.

The memorial is expected to be completed in 2010.
