Mass. man face charges with cruelty to cats

NEW BEDFORD, Mass.—A Massachusetts man faces a charge of animal cruelty after authorities removed skeletal remains of two cats and at least 15 emaciated felines from a squalid house in New
Bedford.

Police Lt. Jeffrey Silva said on Wednesday that 28-year-old Ryan Adams was summoned in court after police, firefighters and animal control officers in hazardous material suits found heaps of rotting food as well as human and animal excrement in the North Street home that had neither running water nor electricity.

His father, who is in his 50s, and his mother, in her 40s, were not charged. They were all removed from the home that authorities have now condemned.

An unidentified person reported seeing cats at the home that may be in need of assistance.
