BARNSTABLE, Mass.—The trash collector convicted of murdering Cape Cod fashion writer Christa Worthington in 2002 has been denied a new trial for the second time.

Christopher McCowen was convicted in 2006 of fatally stabbing Worthington in her Truro home.

McCowen’s attorney, Robert George, filed a request for a retrial in February, alleging that the district attorney’s office failed to disclose crucial information in the case.

George said information about a fight another possible suspect was involved in should have been considered.

Superior Court Judge Gary Nickerson ruled Tuesday that the information would not have been admissible at trial.

McCowen’s first bid for a new trial, in which he alleged racial bias by the jury, was denied last year.
