LINCOLN, R.I.—A man who police said had a violent criminal record was shot in the face when he fought with a state police detective during a sting at Lincoln Woods State Park on Friday afternoon.

Arjusz Roszkowski, 26, of North Reading, Mass., made arrangements on Thursday to purchase a 12-gauge shot gun and a Glock 9mm handgun to use in a bank robbery, Col. Brendan Doherty of the Rhode Island State Police said.

Police said Roszkowski showed the detective money to buy the guns, and the officer identified himself as state police.

Police said the detective was backed by a state police tactical unit.

“The suspect reached for a 9mm handgun that was in his waist band. The tactical team moved in and while they wrestled for the gun, Mr. Roszkowski fired one round which hit (Roszkowski) in the jaw and exited near his ear,“ Doherty said.

Police said Roszkowski was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. The detective suffered gun powder burns on his hand.

“He was taking the gun out to shoot the troopers,“ Doherty said.

Roszkowski faces a host of charges.

Or the gate was locked to block a route of egress.

Thank God for our troopers.  Glad to hear some back-peddling Ken…

Yes it is me the Sh-t stirrer and I am truly sorry for behaving like that lets just say I hit submit when I should have deleated.
I am serious my wife was there at the gate from the entrance off Breakneck hill and they had to go around because of the locked gate.

By the way, I doubt that undercover was alone in the park.  wink

I am skeptical, but if that is you kenneth, thank you for the retraction.
Clearly an error was made at some level, but the gates may have been locked unexpectedly. It was an error, but thankfully, it ended safely.

Glad to hear there are people out there who still have respect.

And kenneth, if that was really you, at least you are man enough to correct what you realized was a poorly thought out statement.

Kenneth why don’t you look into what the state police and any other police department in the state of RI do on a day to day basis. It’s people like you that irritate me. Have a little respect for the men and women that go out everyday and put his/her life on the line to protect your family and mine.

Thank you tank634.  TiredofRI, you need to be able to spell and use basic English grammar to pass the test. I doubt he could finish the personal information section correctly.
Ken’s wife just happened to be there…yeah….sure ken….

Hey Ken in all honesty could you pass the test to become a trooper?
