Man says wheelchair was stolen at Foxwoods
Wheelchair Theft
A man says his wheelchair was stolen at Foxwoods.A Johnston man said his wheelchair was stolen while he was playing craps at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.
Joe Gesualdi, who uses a wheelchair because of arthritis, and his brother were at Foxwoods on Thursday.
A Foxwoods attendant told Gesualdi’s brother where to store the chair while Gesualdi played his game.
“I usually put it where there’s a space around the table close by so that I can keep an eye on it. But where they told him to put it was way across the room, against the wall, which left it all alone. I couldn’t see it from where I was sitting,“ Gesualdi said.
Foxwoods has a security videotape of an elderly couple taking Gesualdi’s chair. Gesualdi might have to pay $600 to replace it.
Gesualdi rented his wheelchair from Alpha Surgical in North Providence. The owner said he is willing to help Gesualdi out. But he said Foxwoods is standing in the way.
The Gesualdi family said so far, Foxwoods is refusing to turn over a police report on the stolen wheelchair.
The report is needed to have the chair replaced at no cost to Gesualdi or Alpha Surgical.
“As soon as they can get that police report, we’ll resolve the matter. We could always order him a new chair, once we can get that police report,“ said Ken Charette of Alpha Surgical.
Charette is willing to loan Gesualdi a wheelchair, but he said his insurance company needs the police report.
NBC 10 called Foxwoods management several times, but messages were not returned.
How does Gesualdi feel about all of this?
“Not too good,“ he said.
To make matters worse, Gesualdi’s roll of the dice not only cost him his wheelchair, he lost at the craps table, too.

Call Foxwoods and complain…the more people do it hopefully the company helps their customer out. I just called and spoke with customer service and the security department and neither of the people I spoke to knew anything about this incident…don’t let them plead ignorance any more. I explained the story and the security rep had the audacity to ask me what I had to do with it…I explained i was simply a concerned person advocating for this poor guy who had his w/ch stolen in their facility. I said it is time for Foxwoods to release the tape to the police so the wheels can get in motion to get this guy’s chair back…why in the world would anyone wonder why someone wonder why a person would advocate for a fellow citizen in need…C’mon Foxwoods do the right thing…and to all others load the phones and help this guy out!!!!!
They should post a picture of the thieves. Maybe they would be embarrassed and return the chair.
This is sad. Not good publicity for Foxwoods stalling on the report. Get with it so this man can get a chair.
Pretty good—an ELDERLY couple took the chair? Looks like delinquency is not restricted to juveniles anymore—if it ever was!
for heaven’s sake…is nothing sacred? how on earth can people live with themselves? i understand that times are tough; they are for most folks, but to steal a poor soul’s wheel-chair…if the thief hasn’t reformed, perhaps he/she can steal some child’s trike!
