Man killed in Fairhaven crash

FAIRHAVEN, Mass.—A man was killed in a two-car crash in Fairhaven, state police said Friday afternoon.

Police said a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 52-year-old Charles Jones, of Charlestown, R.I., was traveling on Route 195 West in the breakdown lane at about 2 p.m. when he struck a sign.

Police said the vehicle crossed the highway and re-entered the roadway heading west on the eastbound side of the highway. Police said the SUV then hit a Toyota.

The driver of the Toyota, identified as 73-year-old Frederick Campbell, of Bristol, R.I. was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Toyota, 72-year-old Alma Campbell, was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford with serious injuries.

Jones suffered minor injuries.
