A North Attleborough woman is in fair condition after police say she was assaulted by her boyfriend.
Police say Carol Smith was attacked outside her home on Circle Court Friday night.

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass.—A 60-year-old North Attleborough man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend.
Lawrence Poirier was scheduled to be arraigned Monday on a list of charges.
Police said Carol Smith was attacked outside her home on Circle Court Friday night.
Smith’s daughter, Jennifer Marshall, said her mother was beaten so badly that she needed 40 staples to close the wounds in her head.
Marshall said the suspect lives in the building next door to her mother and that the two had been dating about six months without any problems.
Smith was in fair condition Sunday night.
