Mall security guard accused of stealing phones

PROVIDENCE—A Cranston man working as a Providence Place mall security guard is accused of stealing cell phones from the mall.

Police said Johnelle Perez, 26, allegedly stole 63 cell phones, worth more than $16,000 from the locked T-Mobile kiosk on Sunday, just before the mall opened.

Police said they confiscated the phones from his home Wednesday night.
