Lynch: No charges in Providence bad check case
Published: August 6, 2009
PROVIDENCE—Rhode Island prosecutors say they won’t bring criminal charges after finishing their investigation into two bad checks written by the brother of Providence Mayor David Cicilline.
John M. Cicilline twice submitted to the city checks for $75,000 with insufficient funds to cover the outstanding taxes of a client.
Assistant Attorney General J. Patrick Youngs says in a letter released Thursday that there was no evidence of criminal conduct.
The decision was made after State police and the Attorney General’s office looked into whether Cicilline intended to defraud the city.
Youngs says the probe showed that some city tax employees acted in an “misguided” and “unprofessional” manner.
Cicilline is serving a federal prison sentence for attempting to shake down drug-dealer clients.

This just solidifies that Patrick Lynch is not fit to hold a public office…incompetence at its best and this guy wants to be Governor…WAKE UP RHODE ISLANDERS VOTE OUT EVERY CLOWN THAT IS CURRENTLY IN OFFICE AND START OVER WITH FRESH IDEAS
cevale….. u are SOOOOO right!!! its all bull——-
No Shall Issue. NO VOTE FROM ME!
isn’t Patrick Lynch running for governer? This tells Rhode Islanders something. I left Rhode Island 16 years ago and never looked back. When a Government can be corrupt right in front of the citizens faces, something is definitely wrong. Wake up Rhode Island these goons are laughing in your faces.
What a crock!! If it was the “average Joe”, he would be in jail! This state is so corrupt. Glad I moved out last year.
Are the people in RI kidding? Am I in Jonestown? Are we drinking koolaid from the Providence Water Dept? The answer must be yes because if the citizens of RI believe for one minute there was no criminal activity that rose to the level of charges being brought against Cicillines’ brother, pour me another glass!!!!! If the check wasn’t presented for cashing, how did they know it was a bad check? Of course the man wasn’t charged by the A.G., he had to broker a deal to keep his “sketchy” spending habits from being questioned any further. People of RI, I recommend the cherry flavored koolaid, you can hardly taste the B.S.
Politics as usual in the great city of Providence. Let ME bounce a check for $50.00 at the local market and the detectives would be at my door with handcuffs. Providence sucks as usual when it comes to political corruption. Why don’t they just say the truth. to wit:
Look he is the mayors brother…fagedabotit!
