EXETER, R.I.—U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis is planning a trip to Rhode Island next week to visit an academy that provides training and education to disadvantaged youth.
Sen. Jack Reed said Thursday that he would be joining Solis Tuesday at the Exeter Job Corps Academy in Exeter. The academy opened in 2004.
The two will join students in watching a nationwide “back to school” address being given by President Barack Obama.
Obama nominated Solis, a former California congressman, as labor secretary.
