Iraq dog placed in temporary foster care

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I.—A dog from Iraq has been placed in temporary foster care in North Providence.

Barbara Lakeberg was working for a nonprofit in Iraq when she found Lucy in bad shape and pregnant. Lakeberg nursed the dog back to health and brought her home to Rhode Island.

Lakeberg said she has to go back to Iraq and was looking for someone to adopt the dog.

A Cranston family took the dog home, but returned her for snapping when anyone came near her while she was eating.

An animal organization said a woman in North Providence will foster Lucy until she has the puppies.

Once the puppies are born, and the food aggression problem is fixed, Lucy will be adopted into a permanent home.

It’s nice to read a POSITIVE report for a change and bless the folks who are willing to foster Lucy.
