Fire leaves 4 families homeless

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I.—A Saturday morning fire on Barrett Street in North Providence has left 10 people homeless.

Fire officials believe the flames broke out in a second-floor kitchen. Four families occupied the multi family home.

Crews say the building was not destroyed, but residents will not be able to return immediately.

The Red Cross is taking care of the families, and the six pets displaced by the fire.
