CRANSTON, R.I.—Firefighters are investigating a house fire in Cranston.

It happened on Rolfe Square at about 7:30 a.m. Friday. Rolfe Square is a well known shopping district in the city.

The good news is that all of the residents made it out of the homes safely.  There were two dogs who escaped the blaze as well.

But this was an early- morning fire that left five residents of a multi-family complex out in the cold with their home a total loss.

Firefighters are not saying what caused this fire.  Fire prevention investigators are conducting an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
