DUXBURY, Mass.—Authorities say the driver of a line painting truck that fell on its side has been hospitalized with minor injuries.

The crash on Route 3 in Duxbury at about 2 a.m. Friday required a hazardous materials response because tanks containing propane used to heat the paint before it’s applied to the road started to leak.

The tanks were shut down and fire officials say there was never any danger to nearby homes.

The crash forced the shutdown of both lanes of Route 3 North, but one lane and the breakdown lane were reopened at about 6 a.m. Commuters are being advised to seek alternate routes.

Duxbury Fire Chief Kevin Nord said the crash remains under investigation.
