NEWPORT, R.I.—U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates told students at the Naval War College on Friday that new forces will have to be more nimble and ready to fight non-traditional enemies.

Gates said the United States still is an “indispensable” nation and a necessary partner for any coalition of countries.

Gates’ appearance in Newport wrapped up a tour of all five military colleges in the country.
