WOONSOCKET, R.I.—CVS is offering money back for Extra Care card members who get reusable bags.

For 99 cents, members will get a green bag tag card which can be attached to a cloth bag.

Every time they make a purchase, staff will scan the tag. After four shopping trips, they’ll get a coupon for $1.

The program should be up and running by next month.

Why is that everyone thinks they should get something free??  You are not going to be forced to take the tag.  What better way to spend .99 cents.  If you read the article, you can put the tag on any cloth bag.  Most of us probably spend more than .99 cents on a coffee and then toss our cup. Give up the coffee for one day.

tiredofRI, can I change my name to GoingwithtiredinRI?

Hey dazdnamazd…it was a freakin question, not a complaint, so get over yourself.  We have a crappy legislature because they get voted in. Period.

Alkeria—I did know what was meant—my words were in the same vein.  You did notice the quote marks around the word ‘miserable’ , didn’t you?  Also, I never claimed to be ‘perfect’, I just referred to the actual reading of the story—something that some readers don’t do.

Now to the nitty gritty—what if you’ve already got cloth bags?  I. for one, have several.  I think it is an EXCELLENT idea to get a tag to put on a bag I already have.  What is the difference anyway?  You can go to stores and purchase cloth bags for as little as 99 cents!  So you spend two dollars.  After a few uses, you get the money back—and then you save money.

You complainers are picking at nits.  Get over it!

Because as I have stated before I am leaving next April. Meanwhile I just love to aggravate people like you. This comment was not directed at you so what is your problem. I stated my opinion. Here’s a suggestion when you see my name skip over it. I have no intentions of not stating my opinion to please people like you. You sound like you can be pretty miserable yourself. HAVE A GREAT DAY

Do you miserable people EVER STOP COMPLAINING???  If you don’t like it, DON’T DO IT, but please use your precious time on something more important. The reason we have a lousy legislature in this state is because no one in their right mind would want to be responsible for making decisions for a bunch of “cry-baby belly achers” like the people here.  I have a question for “Tired of RI.“  “Why haven’t you left yet/“

Smitty, excuse me for misreading what they meant.  Guess I am not as perfect as you.
If you had bothered to read, we didn’t say that the effort on CVS’s behalf was miserable. It was a tongue-in-cheek reference to our thoughts; I would think the “lol” would have shown even you that.

I am glad that another company is offering us to use our own bags.  I, too, have more than enough.

The best ones I have for groceries are from Price Chopper, when I was living in Upstate NY.  They are extremely strong and durable.  Unfortunately, the nearest Price Chopper is in Worcester, and in my opinion, they blow away both Stop and Shop and Shaws.

Buy the bag for $0.99, use it 4 times and get $1.00 in extra bucks.  That means it’s pretty much free.

Big companies like CVS are giving consumers what they want, those bags are a huge hit!  Being ‘green’ is a great concept for a large company.  It doesn’t mean they are being sneaky or try to scam anyone.  Big companies are not all evil you know…..

i really can’t see cvs trying to save you money.the less bags they use ,the more they save.next they’ll charge for the bags.all this to go green,ya right.

Smitty it was more me that said I sounded miserable.  My problem is they want us to use them let them provided them. My other problem is if you want to go green and try to help most “Green” items are more expensive then regular items. People are having trouble surviving as it is shopping on a budget. Green items are expensive.
